History

Saag is also known as sag or saga. The main ingredient that elevates this South Asian leafy vegetable is the spices one includes in it. This dish is common in Odisha as maha Prashad in temples. Bengalis and Punjabis call it Sarson da saag and are accompanied by Makki-ki-roti (roti-made maize flour). This dish has many variations and is prevalent in western restaurants.
